MESSIAH VOLLEYBALL EXPECTATIONS
“YOU CAN CONTROL ONLY TWO THINGS, YOUR ATTITUDE AND YOUR ACTIVITY”
SPORTSMANLIKE/ CHRISTIAN CONDUCT:
Always remember the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” All players are expected to conduct themselves at all times in an appropriate manner.
- Treat all Officials, Coaches and those in authority with respect and courtesy accepting adversity with dignity and cooperation.
- Treat fellow players with respect, consideration and helpfulness.
- Represent yourselves with good moral character, showing humbleness.
- Represent our school by being a good example, showing positive behavior and gratefulness for the opportunity to play and be a part of the team. Always be a good sport – win or lose.
ATTITUDE:
We expect all players to come to the Team with a 100% positive attitude.
- Grumbling, complaining, and disrespect in any form (i.e. negative facial expressions, gestures or back talking) will NOT be tolerated.
- We expect a willingness to listen, learn, participate and accept constructive criticism without any negative feedback or arguing.
- Players will be given two verbal warnings in the event of misbehavior, and are expected to face the consequences of “extra Physical conditioning” (i.e. push-ups, running, or sitting out). If, on the 3rd warning the conduct is repeated the player will be put on “probation” for a 1 week period. If disrespect and unacceptable behavior continues, the player will face the possibility of removal from the team. We certainly hope to never face this.
GRADES/GAME TIME:
Volleyball is an extra-curricular activity, therefore it comes secondary to your Academic Education.
- Every player is responsible for maintaining decent grades. You may not have more than one “D” and cannot have any “F’s” to be eligible to play. If your grades reflect either of the above, you will be on probation for 2 weeks or until your grades are back up (if not within the 2 week period).
- Playing time in a game is dependent upon attendance, attitude, and ability in practice.
Please let us know if we can help with this in any way.
The teaching staff keeps us informed.
We want you to be on the team and are behind you every step of the way.
DRESS CODE:
We request and expect appropriate P.E. clothing to be worn at all practices.
- No belly shirts, spaghetti strap tank tops, or low-cut shorts.
- No shorty-shorts
- No Jewelry
Please use MODEST JUDGEMENT when dressing for Volleyball.
We are not only representing our team and school, but ourselves also.
In Conclusion:
We as coaches are here volunteering because we want to be. The kids’ desire to play volleyball is an inspiration to us. We love coaching and the sport and, of course your children. Thank you for “loaning” us your kids.
If you ever have any concerns, we’d appreciate you coming to us – anytime! Thank You for your support!
